CONCEPT STATEMENT
PUBLIC SPACE
Inthe public space environment, we believe that individuals and groups willinteract with one another to balance the off-season hotel revenue and the flowrate. Thus, the summer and winter seasons provide different free activities tostimulate the economy and community. A new, two-level structure accompanied bya sky park has been added to the existing hotel structure. This alternativeopen space breaks the traditional hotel design concept and invites citizens tointeract with the space. The center concept has been shaped by the perspectivesof tourists, residents and community members.
While there are many Victorian-era historic buildings on King St. W. and Spadina, although many of them have been maintained or renovated, people can still see traces of the past through ornate Gable windows or Mansard roofs Despite the renovations. these buildings are still not used as residences. In a contrast, the number of high-rises on King St E has grown rapidly in the last few years, It is challenging to increase recreational opportunities and public space in commercial areas enhance the connection between the two blocks and balance their urban fabrics.
